Moment of Monologue

Makeup Must Haves(What’s In My Bag)💄

Song: In My Bag — FLO

There are makeup products that are worth being loyal to and it doesn’t have to be limited to “luxury” brands. So what exactly would I consider a “worth-while” product? As a darker-skinned women, we are always experimenting to see what brands will do us justice and when we seek out for ones that promise “range” we hope to be consider beyond the top color (so you can stop trying to put all that orange liquid in your foundation bottles and calling them “warm”) but commit to the undertone range of our skin. Black women have melanin that really is one of a kind and and we all glow differently.

I look towards the longevity of a product not just for the amount of product but because I have oily skin I want to keep the product without it well…greasing up.

So what products do I use faithfully no matter the season, winter or summer (If you know…you know).

  1. Nyx Professional Makeup Sweet Cheeks Matte Blush — Red Riot

This blush is not recommended as much as it should be because I have used this product for years and I haven’t found any other one that could compete with it. Even as a plum color, I think it doesn’t necessarily darken my look unless I want it to. It compliments the color scheme to whatever I pair it with. I mean seriously, look at those cheeks.

2.MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour— High Drama

Please note, these are pictures from yeeeeeaarrs ago and despite the overdrawn application and snapchat filter, this is probably the best picture that spotlight the lipstick. I will say that matte lipsticks are very drying so I feel the need to pair it with lipgloss but that does cause it to drip(as you can see) and changed the color. This lipstick does its job! It is a “grown women” lipstick but I usually do pair it with a lighter red in the middle and lip liner as an outer shade to give an ombré look.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder 40 Dark

I find that that with this Finishing Powder, a little goes a LONG way, if you apply too much it will ben patchy and overwhelming. You don’t have to use generously to get the most out of this product. Which…$$$… you feel me? I also have used this under AND over my foundation and honestly, depending if you are more focus on long-wear and oil control instead of brightening I would probably put it under, but as a emphasize on your concealer I would put it on top. That’s just me though.

4. Ruby Kisses Mini Contour Cream Palette To-Go & Morphe Continuous Setting Spray

It sucked to hear the Morphe near me while I was living in San Diego shut down and to find I out it was happening nationwide, Girl! You can still find Morphe online I believe, but the Setting spray was such a trusting and amazing final touch to my looks. The Ruby Kisses Mini Contour Cream Palette was originally just for my wigs when I installed them but it also blended in and gave me the perfect concealing around my eyebrows and under my eyes. I also think cream concealers works best for my skin more than liquid.

These are just a few of my favorite products! Let me know what else hacks/products you use to complete your look. Subscribe, comment, and like!
